Our country and the freedoms we cherish are worth protecting, and if necessary, worth fighting for. Since 9/11 we are living in dangerous times. While our troops are mired in Afghanistan, tensions in the Middle East are once again in the forefront.

We need to facilitate and encourage dialogue and negotiations, and if necessary, sanctions to protect our freedoms at home. I am genuinely proud of our defense and intelligence communities and understand the importance of giving them the best tools available.

I have testified at federal hearings to protect Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC) and will continue to strongly support our local base. It is an integral piece of the fabric of our County in terms of jobs and our local economy, but most importantly it's unique location makes it a critical test firing range vital to our nation's defense.
